Kiosk frames: order the chassis around your equipment
A kiosk frame brings together equipment selected by several people: a display, reader, printer, controller and the panels around them. This buying guide focuses on the information an integrator should settle before ordering a prototype or releasing the same frame for repeat installation.
Freeze the equipment interfaces first
List the actual equipment models and provide mounting drawings for the parts that meet the frame. A display size alone does not define its fixing pattern, connector position or rear depth. The same applies to a printer, scanner or payment reader. Mark the equipment that your team will supply and identify any mounting brackets required in the fabrication scope. If a component is still being selected, flag it as unresolved. Building around an assumed interface can lead to a cut-out that looks right from the front but leaves no room for a connector or prevents the device from being secured.
Design service access as part of the frame
Explain how the operator will replenish paper, open a service door or replace a failed component. Identify the panels that must be removable and the space available behind or beside the installed kiosk. Cable routes should be shown alongside mounting points, not added only when equipment is installed. Ask your designer to consider the assembly order: a bracket that blocks a fixing may make routine replacement unnecessarily difficult. Confirm locks, hinges and other fitted hardware in the quotation. The fabricated frame and the integrator equipment should have a clear interface so each party knows what arrives ready to fit and what still requires assembly.
State the installation conditions
Tell us whether the kiosk is intended for a wall, counter or floor installation and provide the mounting details approved by your designer. State whether it will be indoors or exposed to outdoor conditions. Material, finish, anchoring and any sealing requirements should follow the application specification. A powder-coated frame is not automatically weatherproof, and a photograph of a free-standing unit does not establish the stability of another design. The equipment integrator should define the finished installation requirements, including safe use and access. Fabrication review then works from those requirements instead of trying to infer them from the shape of the cabinet.
Approve appearance using a clear reference
Show which panels are visible to the public and identify the finish, colour reference and any surfaces needing special attention. Consider where panel joints appear relative to the screen and other openings. Branding, graphics and electronic content should be identified as separate items unless specifically included in the agreed scope. For your design, use the approved drawing and sample to settle appearance. General product photographs are useful examples, but they do not replace an agreed reference for the unit being ordered.
Move from the first frame to a repeat order
Use the prototype to install the actual equipment and check service access before approving a batch. Record changes to mounting holes, openings and panels in a new drawing revision. Can a frame be repeated after a prototype?
Yes, prototype and repeat fabrication enquiries are accepted. First approve the equipment fit and record all changes in the production drawing so the next batch follows the correct revision.
